Have you Overcome Guilt & Fear Since Exiting Jehovah's Witnesses ?
by flipper inminimus had a great thread recently asking if any who were witnesses felt guilt as a jehovah's witness.
thought i would build on that a little dealing with how you have moved on after being a jehovah's witness ?.
one definition of guilt in the american heritage dictionary is : " self-reproach for supposed inadequacy or wrongdoing ".

No. I'm still a no good bastard hoping the next life is kinder and gentler. But I'm braced for the reality that it won't.

Amazing how they are so damned sure of my views!!
by AK - Jeff inmy wife ran into a jw the other day who apologized to her for having 'shunned' my wife the other day.
turns out that my wife never even saw her the day she was 'shunned'.. the apology was telling though: "i just wanted to say i was sorry for ignoring you the other day.
i was under the impression that you had 'left jehovah' just as your husband has done.

"I just wanted to say I was sorry for ignoring you the other day. I was under the impression that you had 'left Jehovah' just as your husband has done. I spoke to my uncle Dale [a local elder] who told me that you had not, so I wanted to apologize."
This is the epitome of passive/aggressive behavior. Mix in nosy curiousity and finish it with self-righteous judgment.
Charming.

Dont use shaving cream - just whatever soap happens to be in the bathroom.
That's me as well. I've always shaved in the shower. Too much trouble to use shaving cream at the sink.
But I do use a razor with 5 blades. That is what gives a close shave. And there's a lot less irritation.

What's in a name?
by dissed inits friday, and you know what that means?.
its time for the weekly tradition of sharing what your name means and why you chose it.. there has to be a reason, and it must reveal to us something special about you.. sure this post has probably been run by the forum before, but many of us are new here, and 'by golly, we need to get to know you all better.'.
even if you are using your real name, why and the heck are you using it?

But to my mind, though I am native here
And to the manner born, it is a custom
More honour'd in the breach than the observance.
This heavy-headed revel east and west
Makes us traduced and tax'd of other nations:
They clepe us drunkards, and with swinish phrase
Soil our addition; and indeed it takes
From our achievements, though perform'd at height,
The pith and marrow of our attribute.
So, oft it chances in particular men,
That for some vicious mole of nature in them,
As, in their birth--wherein they are not guilty,
Since nature cannot choose his origin--
By the o'ergrowth of some complexion,
Oft breaking down the pales and forts of reason,
Or by some habit that too much o'er-leavens
The form of plausive manners, that these men,
Carrying, I say, the stamp of one defect,
Being nature's livery, or fortune's star,--
Their virtues else--be they as pure as grace,
As infinite as man may undergo--
Shall in the general censure take corruption
From that particular fault: the dram of eale
Doth all the noble substance of a doubt
To his own scandal.Angels and ministers of grace defend us!

Does marriage work

maybe around half of those who stay married are not really that happy.. .

Marry someone you like, not someone you love and you might have a chance. If you love someone without liking them, your time together will be cold and empty and very brief.
Realize people grow, change -- sometimes for the better and sometimes for the worse. Any relationship that goes on for decades will have rocky spots, times when tension between each is pretty high. Mix in how unfair life itself is, how it seems someone somewhere is absolutely determined we end up miserable, and it's a wonder people can stay together.
In the end, I believe, you find someone you can hold on to while the winds of life howl around you. They are your security blanket and you are theirs.

$29,000.00 Tip Given - Notre Dame says, 'Oops... give it back!'
by jeanniebeanz innotre dame sues caterer mistakenly given $29g gratuitythursday, september 17, 2009. the university of notre dame has a new tip for a catering employee they mistakenly gave a $29,000 gratuity check: give it back.. a lawsuit filed by the indiana university claims sara gaspar used the accidental check to pay bills and buy a new car, myfox chicago reported.. notre dame claims the check, which was supposed to be for $29.87, not $29,387, was issued on april 17 and alleges caterer gaspar never notified university officials about the blunder.. gaspar claims when messages she left regarding the check went unreturned, she assumed the amount wasn't a mistake.
she also said her supervisors told her the check was legitimate and they would pass on her messages to the human resources department, myfox chicago reported.. "i guess because it was there and i was in a bad situation, i went out and spent it," gaspar told the south bend tribune.
"i was so excited ... i thought, i could pay some of these bills.".

Legally speaking, she might very well win this case. If that's the amount of gratuity and it's signed, that is considered a legal document. Depends on what kind of judge presides over the case. If it's a judge that has common sense, she's screwed. If it's a judge that ajudicates the law she's probably going to win.
Morally she should have notified them of the mistake immediately.

Amazing Governing Body threw out a Gay a Pedophile and an Apostate in it's ranks!
by Witness 007 ini find it incredible that these men who are supposed to be the best most spiritual men the witnesses have to offer, yet in the 70's 80's period one edward chitty was gay...leo greenless was a pedophile and we even had an "apostate" ray franz who turned on the organisation.
goes to show no human organisation is run perfectly.....can we expect more bumps in the "governing body road?
hope so!.
